Peace & Rhythm presents: Warsaw Afrobeat Orchestra - Antibody Remixes

Poland’s only Afrobeat band Warsaw Afrobeat Orchestra follows up their third album Antibody with a collection of remixes from the album, featuring collaborations that span the globe.

First up is Chas Bronz (DFA, Soul Clap, Midnight Riot), of P-Funk, FSQ, and Graceful Exit. Chas brings the Tsunami, suping up the afrofunk tune into a four-on-the-floor focused disco banger. Just in time to shake off the winter blues and get us in the mood for the parties to return.

Next we have a pair of remixes from Superprince (Razor N Tape, Universal Cave). The princes of Philadelphia reimagine Survival in their Day and Night mixes. Superprince’s Day time summer BBQ jam will make you kick off your shoes and throw your hands to the sky, soaking in the joy of the sunshine. After the sun sets, we head into the club for the Night mix. The Afrobeat vibes are stripped away and replaced by synthesizers for this dark and gritty 90s house-meets-electroclash sweat fest.

Nick Lagasse from Vancouver Canada’s MNGWA knocks it out of the park with his epic shoegaze meets funk take on Vacuum. Upbeat enough for dancers or balearic enough to dub out for end of the night wild vibes.

Next we head into the world of deep house with the legendary Hong Kong Pomegranate Sounds collective. Their Steroid Dub take on the track Cortisol goes deep, though it keeps enough thump to rock peak dance floor crowds. The vocals are dubbed and also slowed down, reminiscent of Mexico’s rebajada style, though in a new context on the other side of the planet.

Studebaker Hawk (Paper Recordings, Toucan Sounds) strips down Dissolution and makes this all about percussion. No nonsense afrohouse for lovers of drums.

One of the hottest up and coming producers on the scene today, GMGN (Soul Clap, Midnight Riot, Toucan Sounds) brings the heat with this dynamic rendition of Invitation. GMGN takes the listener on a journey swirling between melodic synths, haunting vocals, dirty horns, and fuzzy guitars, while never losing sight of the dance floor.

To close things out, drummer Andrew Klein of Big Mean Sound Machine and On The Spot Trio brings us back home to his shared afrobeat roots on this dubbed out reimagining of Validity, extending the jam into a rhythmic yet downtempo slow-burner that gives the project a gentle landing.
